philadelphia nonprofit, Asociacion de Puertorriquenos en Marcha (APM), opened the country's first triple-LEED platinum certified building, Paseo Verde, in January 2014. A triple LEED building take in an accounting framework that incorporates three dimensions of performance: social, environmental and financial, which differs from traditional reporting frameworks as it includes ecological (or environmental) and social measures that can be difficult to assign appropriate means of measurement. The goal of the project is to provide a healthy living environment for residents through sustainable practices as well as cost savings through effective reduction in water and energy use. The result is an affordable apartment complex that is sustainable with green roofs, solar panels, and emission-free building materials.
