With an ok from the government, non-essential businesses and stores began to reopen in England today after a three month lockdown-induced slumber. But while many big retailers like Nike, Primark, and Zara are seeing long lines snaking around the corner, a number of small shop owners continue to face an uncertain future. Mehmet Ahmet, the owner of the Outdoor Emporium located in Camden, thinks it is unlikely that he will be selling many tents, sleeping bags, or hiking packs from his Camden shop, until Londoners can safely travel across Britain and Europe again. “Festivals are shut down. Travel is non-existent. Our business is entirely related to that, because when people need help finding gear or equipment, they come to us and we help them choose what's best.”
